SINGLE POST

The Girl Squad

It was an unlikely place. I was only 17 years old and just moved to Karratha in North West WA with my mum. I had already completed early childhood studies and worked in child care. While it was ok, I never really loved it. I was never the sort of person that was career driven or worried about how things were going to work out so when I moved I had no idea what I was going to do.

For those of you that don't know Karratha is HOT, 30 degrees is a cool day so when I started looking for a job, criteria number one was to be inside in the aircon away from the blazing heat. Armed with my resume I decided I would make a good receptionist - forgetting, I'm not particularly organised, hate computers and know that sitting down all day is not my thing. I stumble into the local beauty salon and I think they quickly realise I might be the worlds worst candidate for reception...... however as a beautician, well maybe I might be ok. I was offered a traineeship and the rest as they say is history.

Now I didn't write this blog to tell you how I stumbled into an industry that I love because I was lazy and wanted to sit down inside out of the heat. I tell you this to set the scene for another amazing coincidence. The creation of the girl squad.

As I started my traineeship so did 3 other girls, at the time I didn't realise this crew would become some of the most important people in my life! Instantly, we became the closest friends,

- Sam C, the crazy, loud life of the party,

- Julz, the quiet sensible one

- Chelsea the motivated entrepreneur

- and me, the care free, naive, optimist

You would think 4 girls in the same industry, things would get nasty as jealousy crept in but nothing could be further from the truth. We became each others rocks. We laughed and giggled out through our traineeship, having the best time as we learned a trade we loved. Then supported each other as we branched out into our businesses, helping each other wherever we could while being honest and always shooting each straight.

Fast forward 10 years and we don't always see each other, we don't all even live in the same state, but we are still each others rocks. We still talk all the time providing the love and support that made us so close and always remembering to shoot each other straight.

When I opened Samantha J - Eyebrows, guess who helped me with my logo design, guess who gave me the thumbs up on my website, guess who I could trust for an honest opinion....... My Girl Squad.

So to my girls, Sam, Julz and Chelsea, thank you for everything, words can not describe the confidence you give me and I'm so thankful to have you guys in my life!!
